Cafe Layal is a Mediterranean Grill/Hookah Lounge in Houston Texas.

When walking into the cafe, you get a great feel for the culture behind hookah smoking. You are greeted by pleasant hostesses who take you to your seat inside of a large room with several tables. First you are given the menus, both hookah and food, both laid out very well and are easy to read and figure out.

The hookahs themselves appeared to be Mya Odysseys but I didn't take a great look at them at the times, but they were acrylic hookahs, 23" tall or so. Decent gauged hoses. The only down side to the actual hookahs aren't even really with the hookah. Cafe Layal uses quick light coals. While it didn't effect the smoke to much, it did cause the coals to ash rather fast which can be a bit of an annoyance.

They serve Fantasia tobacco which was delicious. Not only was the flavor great, but the bowls lasted for upwards of two hours.

Over all a great atmosphere, great people, and a great place to go and smoke with some friends.

On top of all of this, Cafe Layal has a huge selection of hookahs and shisha, which you can see when you walk into the building.

Pretty cool dive scene and awesome hookah flavors. Not so sure about the O2. A patron had told me it was not worth it and took their word for it. The place is located right in front of one of the UNT administrative building. Parking was is not so bad late at night but earlier during the night is a bit of a pain.

The place is pretty much BYOB but no need when there are 2 bars with in walking distance of the place. There are also a few close food venues if you do not want to while smoking Hookah. Their tea is pretty good and so is their cappuccino. Hookah selection is rather vast. They have more on their menu than Velvet Hookah, and in my opinion it taste better.

The cost of their hookah is anywhere between $9.99 to $19.99, which is rather cheap. They also have a unique way of entertaining their patrons. As soon as you are seated you are handed a highlighter and they let you have at it. They have black lights all over the place so the highlighter glows like it's on fire. Pretty cool and "trippy" effect. Music is run by a jukebox, so you get a generous mix of everything. The general crowd was pretty decent as far as annoyance goes and eye candy was pretty nice.

Over all a pretty good late hang out spot.

Hours of operation Sunday - Friday 6pm to 6am or when the place clears out or which ever comes first.

This is a fantastic lounge.
- The music is fantastic
- My favorite drink to get is the Earl Grey Tea. It is served in a steaming silver tea pot, crystal looking glasses, and sugar cubes
- The food is very well made and delicious
- But THE MOST IMPORTANT THING is that they KNEW hookah. I've been to lounges where i knew more than my server did! (I own my own hookah).
At Naara's, the hookahs are:
--clean
--they use washable hoses (Narbish, i think)
--they come around within reasonable times to 'refill' on coals
--they purge wonderfully
- Also, they have knowledge about what flavors they're serving. The vast majority of lounges I've been to have no idea what anything tastes like.. or even smells like.

I would highly recommend this lounge to anyone in the San Antonio area. This is, literally, the best lounge I've ever been to.
